fonaCAB Tour 4 - Strangford Lough and the Exploris Aquarium
This tour will take you through Newtownards along the tranquil coast road of Strangford Lough to Exploris Aquarium in Portaferry. Strangford Lough is an area of outstanding natural beauty. Unspoilt and uncrowded, it is a picturesque area and a peaceful place to unwind.

Exploris, near the centre of Portaferry is a marine life centre and aquarium with walk-through tanks featuring many of the Lough's 2000 marine species. The Open Sea Tank, the largest tank in the aquarium contains animals of the open sea such as sharks, conger eels and rays. Touchtank demonstrations, delivered by experienced guides, run at regular intervals throughout the day. These not only give visitors the chance to have their questions about local marine life answered, but also to touch and hold a number of species.

The Seal Sanctuary affords the visitor the opportunity to view the process of rehabilitation of rescued seal pups from their arrival through to full health when they are re-introduced to the wild . If you are particularly interested in seeing seals you should ring ahead to ensure there aere seals at Exploris at the time of your visit.

The return journey is by ferry from Portaferry to Strangford and then by road to Belfast. The tour price includes the ferry crossing.
